The United Arab Emirates (UAE) experienced overcast skies and scattered rainfall across various regions, prompting alerts from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). This article provides a comprehensive overview of the recent weather conditions, including rainfall patterns, temperature fluctuations, and sea conditions, along with precautionary measures advised by authorities.

Overcast skies and sporadic rainfall characterized the weather conditions in the UAE, with reports of heavy rain, thunder, and lightning in select areas of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. Motorists were cautioned to exercise caution due to slippery roads resulting from the rain. The NCM issued yellow and amber alerts in response to rainy clouds, particularly over coastal, southern, and eastern regions during the daytime. Moderate to heavy rain was recorded in various locations, including Al Wathba, Al Shawamekh in Abu Dhabi, and Al Khazna in Al Ain, with instances of thunderstorms reported in Madinat Zayed in the Al Dhafra region.

Temperatures varied across the country, with maximum temperatures ranging between 32 and 36°C in internal regions, 28 to 32°C in coastal areas and islands, and 19 to 24°C in mountainous regions. The lowest temperature recorded was 10.6°C in Raknah, Al Ain, during the early hours of the morning. Humidity levels were expected to increase by night and Friday morning, especially in coastal and internal areas, potentially leading to mist formation. Light to moderate Southwesterly to Northwesterly winds were forecasted, with speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/hr and reaching up to 35 km/hr at times.

Sea conditions were projected to be relatively calm to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and slight in the Oman Sea. Despite the rainfall, cloud cover persisted throughout the day, with the possibility of light to moderate showers continuing over certain coastal, southern, and eastern areas. However, the NCM anticipated a gradual decrease in cloudiness by nightfall. Temperature fluctuations were expected, with highs reaching up to 36°C in some parts of the country, while lows could drop to 20°C in Abu Dhabi, 21°C in Dubai, and 12°C in mountainous regions.

Humidity levels were forecasted to range from 15 to 70 per cent in Abu Dhabi and 30 to 70 per cent in Dubai. At sea, conditions were predicted to be slight in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate at times in the Oman Sea. The NCM issued alerts for the formation of rainy clouds in specific areas, underscoring the need for vigilance and preparedness among residents and visitors alike.

Additionally, the rainfall brought relief to parts of the UAE, replenishing groundwater reserves and nourishing vegetation in arid regions. Farmers welcomed the precipitation, which is crucial for agricultural activities and sustaining local ecosystems. The increased moisture levels also contribute to improved air quality and reduced dust levels, providing a temporary reprieve from the typically arid climate.

The recent weather fluctuations in the UAE highlight the importance of staying informed and prepared for varying conditions. As authorities continue to monitor and assess the situation, individuals are urged to heed precautionary measures and exercise caution when navigating through potentially adverse weather conditions. While the rainfall brings temporary relief, it also underscores the significance of sustainable water management practices to ensure long-term environmental resilience.
