Attention Dubai visitors and residents! Getting around the city just got a whole lot more rewarding. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched the exciting new Nol Travel Card, offering a combination of convenience, savings, and access to a world of Dubai experiences.

What is a Nol Card?
Think of it as your all-in-one travel and savings companion in Dubai. This special Nol Card goes beyond just paying for your metro, bus, tram, and water bus rides. Here’s what it offers:
Pre-loaded balance: The card comes with a Dh19 balance to kickstart your travels.
Discounted fares: Enjoy discounts on public transportation journeys compared to using a regular Nol Card.
Special offers galore: This is where things get exciting! The Nol Travel Card unlocks a treasure trove of discounts exceeding Dh17,000 across various services and experiences in Dubai. Imagine saving on hotels, restaurants, shops, adventure activities, and entertainment venues – all with a single card!
It’s a rechargeable smart card that allows you to pay for fares on:
Dubai Metro: The city’s iconic red metro lines whisk you across Dubai, connecting major tourist destinations and business hubs.
Dubai Buses: An extensive network of buses covers almost every corner of the city, offering a budget-friendly option.
Dubai Tram: Glide along the sleek trams that provide convenient connections within specific areas like Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR).
Dubai Water Buses: Experience Dubai from a different perspective by cruising the waterways on water buses (Dubai Water Bus) or traditional abra boats (Dubai RTA Ferry).
RTA Parking: Going car-free? The Nol Card can even be used to pay for parking at designated RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) parking lots.
How to check nol card balance?
There are two main ways to check your Nol Card balance in Dubai:
- Using dedicated machines:
- Look for Nol Card service counters or top-up machines at metro stations and some bus stations.
- These machines typically have a screen where you can tap your Nol Card and view your remaining balance.
- Using the nol Pay app (if applicable):
- Download and install the official RTA app “nol Pay” on your smartphone.
- If your Nol Card is linked to your nol Pay account, you can check the balance directly within the app.
Additional tips:
- Not all Nol Card types can be linked to the nol Pay app. Check the RTA website or app for compatibility information.
- While online top-up options are emerging for Nol Cards, checking the balance online through the RTA website is not yet available (as of June 13, 2024).
How much does it cost?
The initial cost of the Nol Travel Card is Dh200, which includes the pre-loaded balance and the year-long validity of the discount package. After a year, you can renew the package for Dh150, making it a cost-effective way to explore Dubai while saving money.

New Nol Card Packages (as of June 13, 2024):
nol Travel Card: This exciting new package is designed specifically for tourists and visitors. It includes a Silver Nol Card with a pre-loaded credit of Dh19 and a variety of exclusive benefits like discounts on taxis, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues. The package is valid for one year from the date of account activation.

All Dubai Metro Stations: Look for the designated Nol Card counters.
Bus Stations: Many bus stations have Nol Card sales points.
Convenience Stores: Major convenience stores like Dubai Metro convenience stores and some supermarkets often sell Nol Cards.
Select Partner Stores: The new Nol Travel Card is currently available at Dubai International Airport (DXB) upon arrival and select partner stores like Zoom and Europcar. Always check with the RTA or these stores directly for confirmation before heading out, as details may change.
Online: While not all official channels offer online purchase yet, some authorized retailers may provide this option for regular Nol Cards.
How to Use Your Nol Card:
Top Up Your Card: Before you start using your Nol Card, add credit (balance) by topping it up at designated top-up machines in metro stations, bus stations, convenience stores, and online retailers (where available).
Tap and Go: When entering the metro station, bus, tram, or water bus, simply tap your Nol Card on the reader at the fare gate. The fare will be deducted from your card’s balance.
Exiting: Upon reaching your destination, tap your Nol Card again on the reader at the exit fare gate.
What about my existing Nol Card?
While current Nol Card holders can’t transfer their balances to the new Nol Travel Card yet, the RTA is considering this option for the future.

Daily Limits: There are daily limits on the amount you can spend using your Nol Card.
Validity: Some Nol Card types have expiry dates, so be sure to check the specific card you purchase.
