Emirates, the world’s foremost international airline, revealed today a suite of contracts signed with Safran, cumulatively valued at over $1.2 billion. These agreements encompass best-in-class seats for Emirates’ upcoming Airbus A350, Boeing 777X-9, and the existing Boeing 777-300 fleet, along with cabin equipment, wheels, carbon brakes, landing gear component repairs, retrofit services, and Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) support.

The primary contract, valued at $1 billion*, focuses on securing the latest generation Safran Seats for Emirates’ new fleet of aircraft, spanning the Airbus A350, Boeing 777X-9, and the current Boeing 777-300 models. This deal encompasses Business, Premium Economy, and Economy class seats, tailored to deliver enhanced comfort, privacy, and convenience. The new seats promise generous space, luxurious features, stylish finishes, and cutting-edge technology across all cabin classes.

The accord not only signifies a substantial investment but also acts as a pivotal export order for a French enterprise, further strengthening Emirates’ commitment to France and Europe’s aviation manufacturing ecosystem.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, emphasized the strategic importance of Safran as a key partner. He stated, “Safran is instrumental in our quest to redefine and elevate our future cabins through innovative design and advanced technology. The choice of seats, tailored exclusively for Emirates, underscores the pivotal role of smart design and cutting-edge technology. Today’s announcement not only solidifies the partnership between Emirates and Safran but also bolsters the aviation manufacturing and value chain across France and Europe.”

These agreements lay the groundwork for our continued growth alongside a global market leader. We’re excitedly looking ahead to the future.”

Alongside the seats, Safran Cabin will provide Galley shipsets for Emirates’ A350 fleet, adhering to the airline’s high standards in quality and design. The Galleys will boast advanced features, technology, and efficiency, aligning with Emirates’ stringent quality benchmarks.

Safran Landing Systems will furnish high-performance wheels and carbon brakes for the Emirates A350 fleet, ensuring reduced weight and improved cooling for shorter turnaround times and increased fleet availability.

Safran Passenger Innovations is set to equip Emirates with its RAVE AeroConnect Ka solution, offering unparalleled flexibility in entertainment and connectivity across multiple providers and frequencies. This agnostic satcom connectivity solution will be installed in 50 Airbus A350, 60 Airbus A380, and 50 Boeing 777X-9 aircraft.

Moreover, Safran is actively collaborating with Emirates on its retrofit program, supplying new seats for the Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 models.

In MRO support, Safran Landing Systems will exclusively service Emirates’ A380 fleet for Nose Landing Gear overhaul. The comprehensive support services will leverage Safran’s global network, including facilities in Singapore and France.

Additionally, Emirates has signed a decade-long service agreement with Safran Aerosystems, focusing on repair and maintenance for Boeing 777 safety and cabin systems components. Safran Aerosystems’ strategically located Middle East facility near Al-Maktoum Airport in Dubai will enhance Emirates’ operational efficiency through tailored maintenance services.
